A little taste of IRONY

How can a topic such as this be so...overdone and yet be so...I don't know...not done?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not an advocate for the emo culture of today, or even what it has become. Neither am I one of those idiots who hate the culture simply due to the fact that they dress funny and listen to whiny music. I can honestly say that I am in complete balance.

Which brings me to my point. Why do people feel so strongly for or against the culture?

I believe that there should be a proper playing field in which people can debate this. I believe that people should not have to attack one's personal profile on sites such as bebo or myspace and in turn, force the victim (used lightly) to retaliate. I see it everywhere. I'm growing sick of it. Sure everyone has a right to defend one's beliefs or whatever by any means but the lengths some people go to just to prove an invalid point?

In this blog, I'm going to ask questions. Not directly. This is by all means an educational facility as well as an exchange of intelligent or insightful commentary. This is however not a site in which people can bitch and moan about how nobody likes them. This is equally not a site in which people can bitch about what their nextdoor neighbour wears on a friday night. This is about defending one's opinions in order to convince people of the right way of thinking. I'm not too sure if I get the concept but from what I understand, this is Socratic method (although correct me if I'm wrong).

So today I will put this blog towards anyone who'll listen. The purpose, if I haven't already made it clear (although I doubt I have...I forget) is to educate. Interpret it however you want.

Is it even a culture? Is there a right or wrong party? Should changes be made? Is this a complete waste of time? Whatever. I'm just sick of misrepresentations in the media, galleries of bitching on both parties and mostly utterly confused. I have no idea if anyone will care. I just wish we could all just get along.

This is one big long bitch of a post. Shouldn't you have called this blog The War Against Label Culture?
And I like "emo" people. They're kinda like the Vanir Vein (me included, I suppose), except less sexed up, and they actually care about stuff that have nothing to do with class distinctions and self-indulgent power struggles.

Part 2: A huge part of it is that modern Western culture has this annoying habit of isolating people for no reason. You will notice that Asian people are less likely to be emo because there's no pressure for them to compete and meet expectations of superiority. They're being taught to assimilate and shut up. Okay, there are some crazy people from Harajuku and Hong Kong, but they're rebelling against 1984, not, say, Great Expectations. Which explains why Gackt is a vampire but Gerard Way is a corpse.

it probably wasn't even supposed to, but that made me LOL.
